Confirmation / Affirmation of Faith
Confirmation, or 'affirmation of faith' as some call it, is an opportunity for young people between the ages of 12 and 15 to delve more deeply into their Christian faith and to move beyond their Sunday School learning. It is a chance for our young people to learn more about their Christian and Lutheran heritage with both educational and practical experiences!
In the first year portion of the program confirmands explore the many and various stories of the Bible from both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Scriptures.
In the second year, confirmands will explore the teachings of Martin Luther's Small Catechism as well as other important teachings and practices of the Christian and Lutheran Church. This portion of the program will also include many opportunities for practical and everyday applications of what confirmands are learning.
Classes are normally held on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am in the Church Library.
Our program has resumed. The first half of the program will focus on the Small Catechism, 10 Commandments, Apostle's Creed, Lord's Prayer, Baptism and Communion. The second half of the program will focus on the practical applications of what the students have been learning emphasizing faith in a modern context. We will explore ecumenism, interfaith dialogue, sexuality, prayer and meditation, poverty, church in a changing world, and other topics with a modern faith application.
